“I made the right decision…”
I do wear a mask. My whole family, my kids, even my three-year-old toddler, we all wear masks. When COVID started I had five kids and another on the way. My baby was born in March… Now I have six kids.
I was the project manager for Jazz at Lincoln Center. It was a really wonderful place to be, then COVID came along…now its dark.
I didn’t get an unemployment check for almost 11 weeks. Calling New York State unemployment became a full-time job. I knew that I had to do something and I knew I couldn’t wait COVID out. It really forced me to sit back, take a look at my career. I had to be proactive.
I love the entertainment industry and I do miss it. I do miss those early morning load-ins and the excitement of going through rehearsal and even more the excitement of the show itself but my family comes first. It’s a scary thing when you’re trying to put food on the table.
I figured the best thing I can do is get my real estate license and help some of my friends get out of the city and find homes in the suburbs… So, you know, I think for myself and my family, I made the right decision.
