12 Nov International Live Events Association (ILEA) & Live Events Coalition (LEC) Partnership Announcement
Two major organizations representing the live events industry have partnered to address the growing economic crisis due to the global pandemic
WASHINGTON, D.C., November 12, 2020 – The International Live Events Association (ILEA) and the Live Events Coalition (LEC) have partnered to address the needs of the live events industry, which has been hugely affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic.
This partnership will focus on the response and recovery efforts that both organizations have undertaken as a direct result of the mass event cancellations that began in mid-March of 2020 once the coronavirus pandemic began to affect communities around the world at extreme rates. The cancellations of live events have brought this multibillion-dollar global industry to a halt.
Both organizations have committed to increased advocacy on behalf of their members to government leaders, especially members of Congress, who are at the forefront of creating and delivering small-business relief packages. An independent national survey conducted by LEC in September 2020 found that “almost 70% of live events businesses will close by the end of January 2021” without further aid from the government.
